Fidan Meikle is an Azerbaijani-British writer, poet, and linguist based in Scotland. She creates stories and poems that resonate with readers of all ages, delving into themes of identity, belonging, empathy, and the refugee experience. Her debut novel, My Name is Samim (Floris Books, May 2025), is inspired by the real-life journey of a young refugee, with a sequel, My Name is Zayn, set to follow in August 2026.

With a background in language teaching and multilingual education, Fidan brings her passion for inclusive, diverse storytelling to schools, libraries, and literary festivals. Her event programme encourages young readers to explore complex issues such as identity, the meaning of home, and the power of unity, empathy, and kindness.
